Description: This exciting TEMPORARY position with South Carolina Public Radio is at our headquarters located at 1041 George Rogers Boulevard, Columbia, SC. South Carolina Public Radio is radio for all of South Carolina and this position presents a motivated individual with the opportunity to be engaged in bringing quality public radio to the citizens of the state. This position will typically work a maximum of 40 hours per week. However, the work schedule may vary from one week to the next and may include weekends and holidays.
Requirements: Production for on-air; Editing/mixing/loading promos and shows, voicing underwriting credits/promos/spots with product meeting broadcast standards using a daily list of audio needs. Direct responsibility for post-production and loading for on-air NatureNotes and Legacy of Opera, including the archiving of both programs. Program both the classical automated systems and news automated systems using the daily traffic log, loading and placement of production material (promos, shows, underwriting credits, spots) using the on-air events daily log. Studio operator for interviews using a studio and ISDN unit and communicating with other party or parties handing multiple tasks in a short time frame. Board operator and on-air talent for South Carolina Public Radio's pledge drives, performing and meeting broadcast standards while on air and informing the audience of specifically listed material using ad-lib or reading from a script while following live direction. Help with all production aspects of South Carolina Public Radio's on-air/new media coverage of a hurricane or other natural disaster that is a direct threat to South Carolina. The resulting professional broadcast standard would use various on-line material, phone and live interviews. Update South Carolina Public Radio Twitter account, South Carolina Business Review and Twitter accounts. Expedite efficiently and on time with a goal of no mistakes using material from various producers. Assist with duties of and being the back up for the Traffic Manager A high school diploma and experience in radio and/or television production. Graduation from an accredited school of television production or a bachelor's degree in broadcasting or a related field may be substituted for the required work experience. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in radio and/or television production. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS: -Knowledge of commercial or public radio operations preferred. -Ability to work well with others. -Ability to work and make decisions with no direct supervision. -Ability to project a good on-air broadcast voice -Ability to read and write skillfully as this job entails on-air duties. -Ability to make correct decisions under deadline situations is essential. -Computer skills are essential. -Proficient in Adobe Audition.
