South Carolina ETV (SCETV) is the state’s public educational broadcasting network. SCETV amplifies South Carolina voices, provides educational experiences, and strengthens communities, while working to create a stronger, more connected, and informed South Carolina. SCETV provides national and local content to classrooms via internet services Knowitall.org and PBS Learning Media. SCETV also provides teacher training and re-certification in face-to-face and online settings.

Job Purpose:
Under limited supervision, manages the many elements associated with producing material for broadcast news on South Carolina Public Radio and for SCETV.

Job Duties:
Create and research, write and voice public affairs and news content pertaining to South Carolina. Content may range from short spots to feature-length pieces and include multimedia components.

Responsible for keeping track of all productions you produce in a manner that is accessible and kept up to date at all times. All pertinent information is listed but not limited to the productions including date produced, topic and length. Provide material to post” on· social’ media pertaining to South Carolina Public Radio, SCETV and may be called upon to post material.

Monitor phones, e-mail, AP NEWS FEED, SCEMD, SLACK, appropriate apps, website/emails/phone calls and appropriate internet and other social media, etc. for any and all information pertaining but not limited to South Carolina Public Radio in the case of an emergency situation. During non-emergency situations must keep up with current news situations. Able to take material and get it on the air. As appropriate monitor audio on the hallway speakers.

Develop relationships with and follows leads from news agencies, the police, the public, press conferences and other statewide sources

Produce On-Air Talent, Voice Over for various Content Department for news radio and television productions.

A primary back up to produce and deliver on-air news and weather cut-ins for Morning Edition and All Things Considered.

Provide support and guidance to news interns.

Other Duties as assigned

Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A high school diploma and experience or additional education in the production of radio or television programs.

Preferred Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in Radio/Television Film, Communications, Journalism or related field and at least one (1) year of experience reporting and producing newscasts for radio which includes meeting strict deadlines; and producing and hosting newscasts or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge of commercial or public radio and television operations preferred. Ability to work well with others. Ability to work and make decisions with limited supervisions. Ability to project a professional on-air broadcast presence. Professional newswriting skills and presentation. Quick, accurate decision making skills under broadcast deadlines. Multimedia skills to include DSLR camera and limited video post-production. Computer skills are essential. Proficient in Adobe Audition.
